QUALIFIED TOWN PLANNER

Robert Taylor mRTPI

I help manage the development of cities, towns and countryside, to make sure that the natural environment works well with the built environment, to create sustainable communities.

To many the planning system can appear quite daunting, with numerous almost inevitable pitfalls. Problems can be avoided by taking an approach that creates high quality strategies and work leading to successful conclusions.

Engaging the services of a qualified town planner is important because it enables you to make the right decisions from the beginning of your project.

For large or more challenging situations having a qualified town planner on your project team is often essential to compliment other technical design professionals.

Infrastructure

Examples of planning permissions obtained for Infrastructure clients include: Flood defences, Environmental compensation, Water and waste water treatment works and pipelines, Bus and Rail – Park & Ride Schemes & New Highways and Rail Schemes.

Grantham North Flood Alleviation Scheme, Environment Agency:  Successfully delivered a major planning application supported by Environmental Statement for the formation of over 29 Ha of intertidal habitat on the Tees Estuary to counteract coastal squeeze caused by ‘holding the line’ on flood defences at coastal settlements along the north east coast such as Redcar in Cleveland.  It also provided approx. 1.5 km of realigned flood defences to protect industrial sites at this strategic UK port.

Lower Todmorden and Walsden
Flood Alleviation Scheme Phase 3
Client: Environment Agency
Location: West Yorkshire
Sector: Flood risk management
Issues: Listed buildings, conservation areas, replacement buildings
Status: Planning approved

Todmorden is a historic market town situated in the Calder Valley benefiting from protected heritage, wildlife areas and listed buildings.

The works are situated on a section of Walsden Water totalling 1km in length. I was the lead planner on the project delivery team for the works which have the objective of alleviating flooding to around 600 houses and I oversaw all planning and other applications for the entire programme.
